New story " 4 Seasons "

This is the first story I publish in this blog. It's written by my junior friend and I. There are 4 chapters which is divided via each season. The following text is a part of the story:

…..While the snow which had fallen in the last winter was smelting, spring began its first day of the year on the land of a small district near Tokyo. As the frozen ice over a lake had gone, sound of water crashing against the stones was heard all over a field covered by green grass, and trees began to blossom its flowers. Many kinds of animal got ready for spring. As a local art university located on the middle of the town opened its gates for undergraduates who came from many other places, a friendship between a piano genius boy whose name had just been sent from his old university in Tokyo and a beautiful inhabitant girl was about to began. The boy who was kind, gentle and calm was called Jeson, he was arranged to study at this university by his parents because they thought there’s only this art school was qualified to their son’s ability in Japan. On his first day in a piano technicality class, while Jeson was paying attention to the teacher’s explanation, he felt very strange when a schoolgirl, one of his classmates arrived late and apologized to the teacher. As he turned his face and looked at that girl, he seemed to love her at the first sight but during the class, he could do nothing. Fortunately, after the school, walking along his way home with an umbrella on his hand, Jeson saw the girl to whom he had expecting to say “Hi” was standing under a tree called Gonkgo waiting for the rain stop. This was the best chance for Jeson to know her name. He walked toward her and began his first word, “What a big unexpected rain.” Then he gently looked at her face “Do you have an umbrella?” he continued. “No” she shortly replied. As he heard her answer, Jeson immediately persuaded her to go with him “Why don’t you go with me, I have an umbrella. Staying under a tree while raining is very dangerous.” The girl looked a little bit shy and nodded her head instead of saying “Yes”. That moment, Jeson was very happy but when they started to move, the rain stopped so his umbrella was no longer needed. Jeson thought that the weather didn’t want to help him but when he asked the girl “Where is your house?” she gave him back a surprised answer; their houses were on the same way. Walking her home, Jeson began many questions in purpose to know about her and they were getting along well. Arriving in front of her house, he asked her the last question “What’s your name?”, “Isa, What’s yours?” she replied and asked him. “Jeson” he answered. Then Isa went into her house with saying “Good bye”. After that day, studying in the same class, the same subject and the same time, Jeson could easily made their one-day friendship to become more and more intimate by helping Isa with exercises problem, practicing piano together and walking her home everyday. In every morning, Jeson always waited for Isa in front of her house and then they went to school together. During spring, Jeson was Isa’s closest friend and knew everything about her except she had heart attack. Spring was almost over, Isa still didn’t know Jeson had loved her since their first met but she noticed that he recently acted very strange. Without having any bravery, Jeson didn’t dare to say the truth but he always took her going for a walk along the large field, watching waterfall, relaxing under the Gonkgo tree in order to made romantic feeling before going home. What a fortunate Jeson, one day under the Gonkgo tree, Isa understood and especially she accepted Jeson as her secret boyfriend. That day, he was also given the first kiss too. At the end of spring, the intimate friendship of two students became secret love.

Summer had arrived, the sun shined everywhere, and weather got a little bit hot; trees leaves colored deeper green at the same time some flowers were wilted some were flied by the wind and some had just budded. Sound of singing birds was heard all over the field with the same grass. Summer after spring, day after day, the couple gained much time for staying together and there was no a single day that they didn’t meet each other. Although the sun brightly shined all over the sky, their secret love always went on in darkness. They loved each other very much but their love was not shown in public because Isa had told Jeson that there must be only two of them know about this. In school, they acted like they were classmates but when the class finished; both of them became a quiet couple. They together had made plenty of unforgettable remembrances during the seasons. Every day, Jeson always with Isa went for a walk in the grass field, near the waterfall and relaxed under the Gonkgo tree they’d always been to. After that, He walked her home regularly. By hard working and using their love experience, a song called “4 seasons” was successfully finished in this season. Isa told Jeson that this song represented their unchangeable love. One day, a serious problem happened to Jeson, while he was chatting with several of his classmate during break time, he accidentally told them his secret love with Isa. Unfortunately, that moment, Isa was standing out side the class and heard everything Jeson told his friend. Then she ran away with her a hopelessly face. As one of Jeson’s classmates saw Isa ran away, he immediately told Jeson to follow her but she had already gone far away. Jeson regretted that he shouldn’t have done this and instantly found a best way to correct his fault. The next day, while Isa was sadly walking a lone, Jeson came from behind and held her hand running to the Gonkgo tree. When they stopped there, Jeson began to apologize for his fault and asked Isa to forgive him. After she agreed, she made him promised he had to play “4 seasons” at graduation day for her instead of saying sorry and then he immediately accepted but he didn’t know the real terrible disaster caused by his mistake would appear some day.

New Book Available now!

This is the second Mathematical book I have prepared and designed for new Cambodian generation who like Mathematics the most and wanna become one of the top ten in the National Level and International Level. It includes many key strategies and Mathematical Competition in the world. Note: It is not mean that I have done this book, but I am doing this book....

And these are some Math exercises in this book:

1) p(x) and q(x) are polynomials of real coefficients that have no real roots in common, and p(q(x))=q(p(x)) for all x. Prove that the polynomials p(p(x)) and q(q(x)) have no common real roots either.

2) In Dragon Castle, 14-headed baby dragon is sleeping while mummy dragon is making pancakes. She lays them on a plate and leaves home. One head wakes up, eats 1/11 of the pancakes and falls asleep again. Then another head wakes up, eats 1/13 of the remaining pancakes and falls asleep again. Next, three heads wake up at the same time, eat 1/14 of the pancakes each, and finally they wake up the rest of the heads, too. Those who have eaten, do not get any more pancakes, the remaining 9 heads eat them all. (They do not necessarily eat the same number.) How many pancakes may have been on the plate, given that every head ate a whole number of pancakes, and if they had shared them equally, no one would have got more than 143?

3) Let ANC, CLB and BKA be triangles erected on the outside of the triangle
ABC such that \NAC = \KBA = \LCB and \NCA = \KAB = \LBC.
Let D,E,G and H be the midpoints of AB,LK,CA and NA respectively.
Prove that DEGH is a parallelogram.

4) Determine all positive integers a such that
Sn = fpag + fpag2 + ¢ ¢ ¢ + fpagn
is rational for some positive integer n. (For real number x, fxg = x ¡ bxc, where bxc denote
the the greatest integer less than or equal to x.)

5) Let n be a given integer with n greater than 7, and let P be a convex polygon with n sides.
Any set of n¡3 diagonals of P that do not intersect in the interior of the polygon determine
a triangulation of P into n ¡ 2 triangles. A triangle in the triangulation of P is an interior
triangle if all of its sides are diagonals of P.
Express, in terms of n, the number of triangulations of P with exactly two interior triangles,
in closed form.

6) A network of connections among n points is given, such that there is at
least one path connecting any two points. Furthermore each edge in this
network is assigned a positive real number, called its weight. The weight
of a path is defined as the maximum weight of any edges belonging to
the path. For any two vertices x and y define f(x, y) to be the minimum
weight among all the paths connecting x and y. Show that {f(x, y) :
x and y points in the network} has at most n − 1 elements.

Hope all of you who like math will share your ideas regarding these problems. And if you wanna give me some comments, you are more than welcomed to do.

New Cambodian national assembly

( Right )

Cambodia has opened its new National Assembly building, a gold-tiled complex modelled after medieval Khmer temples.

"That day will be a historic day for the Cambodian people," said Chhem Yeam, Chairman of the Banking, Finance and Audition Committee of the assembly.

Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni will preside over the ceremony, he said.

Parliamentary heads of three neighboring countries, namely Laos, Vietnam and Thailand, together with senior delegations from other countries, are invited to attend the event, he said.

So far, China has provided computers and printers, Vietnam x- ray machine and Japan office materials to greet the inauguration of the new mansion, he added.

On Monday, the contractor handed over the pure Khmer-style building to the assembly, after five years of construction.

The 300-room mansion is built on a two-hectare land at the cost of 26.7 million U.S. dollars. It stands beside the Mekong River, next to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia in the heart of Phnom Penh.

Note: Cambodia's old national assembly was built in 1947

SEALNet Project, CAMBODIA

Project Cambodia 2007
When: Wednesday 20 June 2007 – Friday 29 June 2007
Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Problems

The ancient tradition of Cambodian arts was nearly eradicated during the Khmer Rouge genocide from 1975-1979.
As a result, Cambodia has lost much of its rich traditional culture, and Cambodian youth today are growing up without an awareness of and appreciation for their heritage.
Objectives

Our objective is to empower young Cambodian performing artists and selected high school students to spread awareness of Khmer traditional performing arts in the Cambodian youth community.
Approaches:

SEALNet’s Project Cambodia 2007 aims to prepare young Cambodian performing artists and selected high school students to spread awareness in the youth community by:

Offering workshops for 20 students (10 performing arts students and 10 gifted Bak Touk High School students) to teach public speaking, team building, marketing, event planning, creative problem solving and self-evaluation skills.
Providing opportunities to practice the skills developed in the workshops by planning and presenting two outreach concerts at local public high schools in Phnom Penh.
Establishing a computer lab in the learning center of the non-profit organization Cambodian Living Arts (CLA) for ongoing instruction in the technology and English skills that are necessary to realize the long-term goal of widespread awareness of and appreciation for Khmer traditional performing arts.
Local Partner

CLA, a project of World Education, works to support the revival of traditional Khmer performing arts and to inspire contemporary artistic expression. CLA supports arts education, mentorship, networking opportunities, education, career development, and income generating projects for master performing artists who survived the Khmer Rouge as well as the next generation of student artists.

Team Member Responsibilities

Each SEALNet team member will be responsible for planning and facilitating one workshop designed to support the objectives of the project.
Each SEALNet team member will also work closely with a small group of students, including both performing arts students and Bak Touk High School students, on a component of planning and presenting the two outreach concerts.

Now It's time to Know what S.2 mean!!

After posting a question of What does S.2 mean for about 2 weeks, I have gotten quite more e-mails and some guesses of the meaning. However, nobody got 100% the correct answer.
Now I tell you S.2 stand for“ Success Together “! Anyone may wonder the reasons why I created this word as my nickname. To begin with the first experience of my life was completely successful, so that I determined to be a Permanent successful person, to win over everything and to get everything that I want to get. After, I faced a few problems that were obstacles which could not fulfill my dreams. Next, I faced a few times of failure, so I was really exhausted and bored of everything around me. While my feeling was in a worse condition, I thought that everything I met not the failure, but those were experiences which could lead me to be the brightest future leader with high responsibility. Meanwhile, any competitions must have winners and losers, thus losers have to wait successful time and they may have a more successful than the one who got first. According to a proverb that POEPLE BORN NOT TO FAIL BUT TO SUCCESS, it is mean that everybody can be successful.
As a result, Successful Together(S.2) is the word to motivate myself as well as people to respond for all the failures and try to learn from mistakes. S.2 is hided a word that I always tell myself that “ You are not success every time, but you have to choose time to success ”.
Any comments please contact.

I composed this poem in the title of < Borng Neng Oun > or < You and me >.

Here's Khmer poem!

This is one of 54 khmer poetry. We call it < Bort Kor Khor >. In order to compose this poem, we are needed to used all of khmer alphabets, 33, at the begining of each sentences. Moreover, we must use the word with the same alphabet after the first word in every sentence.
Hope you enjoy reading Khmer poetry to recover Cambodian tradition, thanks.

Can you solve Alphametics?

Do you know Alphametic? It is a popular and interesting mathematical exercises.
An alphametic is an arithmetic puzzle in which letters stand for digits. The problem is to find what digits the letters stand for, to make a true equation. Each letter must stand for a different digit, 0 to 9. A number may not start with 0.
Here's some examples:
mother+father=parent
reak+smey=saing
give+me+more=money
Try these and send me the answer to check!

What's a news for Guy????

I used to be a soy fan but now hehe... should i continue ?;P

I have nothing against an occasional soy snack. Soy is nutritious and contains lots of good things. Unfortunately, when you eat or drink a lot of soy stuff, you're also getting substantial quantities of estrogens.

Estrogens are female hormones. If you're a woman, you're flooding your system with a substance it can't handle in surplus. If you're a man, you're suppressing your masculinity and stimulating your "female side," physically and mentally.

In fetal development, the default is being female. All humans (even in old age) tend toward femininity. The main thing that keeps men from diverging into the female pattern is testosterone, and testosterone is suppressed by an excess of estrogen.

If you're a grownup, you're already developed, and you're able to fight off some of the damaging effects of soy. Babies aren't so fortunate. Research is now showing that when you feed your baby soy formula, you're giving him or her the equivalent of five birth control pills a day. A baby's endocrine system just can't cope with that kind of massive assault, so some damage is inevitable. At the extreme, the damage can be fatal.

Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products. (Most babies are bottle-fed during some part of their infancy, and one-fourth of them are getting soy milk!) Homosexuals often argue that their homosexuality is inborn because "I can't remember a time when I wasn't homosexual." No, homosexuality is always deviant. But now many of them can truthfully say that they can't remember a time when excess estrogen wasn't influencing them.

Doctors used to hope soy would reduce hot flashes, prevent cancer and heart disease, and save millions in the Third World from starvation. That was before they knew much about long-term soy use. Now we know it's a classic example of a cure that's worse than the disease. For example, if your baby gets colic from cow's milk, do you switch him to soy milk? Don't even think about it. His phytoestrogen level will jump to 20 times normal. If he is a she, brace yourself for watching her reach menarche as young as seven, robbing her of years of childhood. If he is a boy, it's far worse: He may not reach puberty till much later than normal.

Research in 2000 showed that a soy-based diet at any age can lead to a weak thyroid, which commonly produces heart problems and excess fat. Could this explain the dramatic increase in obesity today?

Recent research on rats shows testicular atrophy, infertility and uterus hypertrophy (enlargement). This helps explain the infertility epidemic and the sudden growth in fertility clinics. But alas, by the time a soy-damaged infant has grown to adulthood and wants to marry, it's too late to get fixed by a fertility clinic.

Worse, there's now scientific evidence that estrogen ingredients in soy products may be boosting the rapidly rising incidence of leukemia in children. In the latest year we have numbers for, new cases in the U.S. jumped 27 percent. In one year!

There's also a serious connection between soy and cancer in adults – especially breast cancer. That's why the governments of Israel, the UK, France and New Zealand are already cracking down hard on soy.

In sad contrast, 60 percent of the refined foods in U.S. supermarkets now contain soy. Worse, soy use may double in the next few years because (last I heard) the out-of-touch medicrats in the FDA hierarchy are considering allowing manufacturers of cereal, energy bars, fake milk, fake yogurt, etc., to claim that "soy prevents cancer." It doesn't.

P.S.: Soy sauce is fine. Unlike soy milk, it's perfectly safe because it's fermented, which changes its molecular structure. Miso, natto and tempeh are also OK, but avoid tofu.

S.2-AFS Short program students song

Hi, eveybody esp AFS students! I composed this songs when i was in Japan in AFS short program, in order to keep it as my memories and experiences in life.
The song is used as almost the same melody as a famouse Chinese song called " Lao Su Ai Da mi ", or " Mouse Love Rice ". Hope all of you can enjoy singing the song...
